Shift Leader

The Beefy Boys

Hereford•Up to £13.50 per hour, plus tronc•Full time

Four mates. One back-garden barbecue that got out of hand. A burger that came second in the world.

That was 2011. Now there are eight Beefy Boys restaurants and over 400 of us. We love promoting from within, and this job is your first step up.

Here's the job.

On your shift, you're the one the team looks to. You'll keep the floor moving, sort problems before guests notice them, and jump in wherever you're needed, whether that's running food, working the bar or helping the kitchen catch up. You lead from the middle of it, not from the side.

You'll fit right in if...

you've done a year or so in a busy restaurant or bar, and people already come to you when it gets hectic. You don't need the title yet. You just need to be the one who keeps calm and gets everyone through it.

The honest bit.

You'll still be on your feet all shift, just with more on your plate. Some nights it'll feel like you're spinning ten plates. If that gives you a buzz rather than a headache, you're our kind of person.

So, what's the pay?

Right, the bit everyone scrolls down for. You'll get £13.00 to £13.50 an hour, plus your full share of tronc. It goes up and down with how busy we are, but last year it added an average of £[X] an hour, depending on the site.

We open 12 till 9.30, so no 6am starts and no 2am finishes.

What else you get.

All the stuff you'd expect is here: holiday, a pension, free food every shift and money off when you bring your mates in. Plus wellbeing support, including a GP and mental health support, and we close on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. But ask anyone who's been here a while and they'll tell you it's the people. Managers who'll train you to run shifts, cash up and lead, and two staff parties a year, including our summer festival.
